June 30th,
Xander had a cold this last week, but now he appears to be better. His father was supposed to have
had a Corneal transplant on Thursday, but he cought the same cold with a case of pink eye. Thankfuly Xander did not get the
pink eye, but it did cancel the surgery for dad.
June 17th, Xander is doing great. Tomorrow Nichole and I are going to visit Stevie. I'm very impressed
with her for wanting to go. Its not a easy thing to do. I'll be counting the days until Xander hits the 5 years after chemo
ends date. After that date they consider him cured (he could still come down with a secondary cancer but its less likely after
that date) Until then we watch and wait!!!!!!!
Xander's blood counts were "too" good yesterday. His ANC is high and he has grown a bit more so they
raised his meds. Yes I've told you many times we want the ANC high. Low means a hospital stay. Well if they go to high the
chemo doesn't work properly. A happy balance is what we need. This meens once again there is a small chance of eratic blood
counts this week. Right now I"m sick with a cold and fever. If Xander gets it..... Well we all know were that is going to
go.
I'm planning to visit Stevie tomorrow. Please keep us both in your thought...Stevie so her passing
is gentle... Me cause its going to be so hard not to CRY
June 13th,
This month has been complicated. Xander now a big guy at 8 years
old is way to aware of conversations around him. He has been questioning our participation in the Relay for Life, and why
a "cure" is needed. There have been some careful conversations around him having a solid safe cure, and other cancer not.
Today though we learned that a young lady very beloved to my family is passing on from one of those "safe cure" cancers. When
the Relay for LIfe gets here and Xander sees people wearing buttons honoring two young ladies who passed over the last year,
and one of them is a recognizable to him........ ......... Some days just stink!!!!!!!!!
Chemo is tomorrow. I expect everything to be fine, but you might check back for any surpises.
Rachel Hanson, the beautiful little girl on Xander's Angel page lost
her battle June 8, 2007. I'm so glad Xander didn't read her journal pages as I did, or hurt with her family like so many
of us have.
June 1st,
Well June started off "fun". Xander developed a cold between waking
up and 10:00 in the morning. Yep, he was fine when he first woke up, and by 10:00 was coughing and sneezing. By 11:00 he had
developed a fever and it was off to ER. For those of you who think ER that early in the day is no big deal think again. One
elderly lady with dimentia and vomiting was cued behind Xander even though she had been there for 3 hours already. He was
at to much risk of health damage being in the waiting room. Even at that we were in the waiting room 2 hours. (the little
old lady was still there in the waiting room at her 5 hour point) I might add this was a Friday, and Friday evening makes
this look fast! We were in ER 6 and a half hours to find out Xander has a cold virus. Not phnemonia (always a serious risk
for him). He is sicker today, but at least there is less worry. His blood counts were ok. Even if his fever jumps up higher
the odds of transporting to Doernbecher are very small!!!!
