July 31st, Xander is doing great, only a small cough is left.

July 29th,
One and a half hours after leaving our home for the Relay for Life Friday morning Xander had a fever and was laying around listless. Two hours later he was running 102.2 fever and was covered in a full body rash, still listless. Thank goodness we were at the relay and had wonderful people pull him out to the van in a wagon and we headed to Sacred Heart ER. Xander had the standard "for him" run of blood work and cultures done and it was decided that he had some funky virus. Even though it wasn't bacterial they do the standard two doses of "iv" antibiotics. He had a dose on Friday, and left with the DR permision and much help from excited nurses ( there is allot to getting him de- accessed and medicated, much less checked out) we were on the road again for the Relay. Xander and about 10 other Candlelighter children led
the survivor lap at the relay, and It was important to Xander to be there ( I would have just taken him home) We made it just in time. The antibiotics brought back his energy and he was able to "walk" instead of ride in a wagon for the survivor lap. Yesterday it
was back at ER for more antibiotics, but he is doing great now. That’s kind of how our life is on a day by day basis. One min. everything is fine, the next its off to ER. At least all the people we were with Fri. were well used to this in their own life. I was sent off with cell numbers to call with updates.

July 22nd,
Xander is still doing fine. His cough and sniffle have decreased.

July 20th,
Xander came down with another virus this week. We drove up to Doernbecher on Wed. to have blood work done and a DR evaluate his health. He had a fever and other typical cold bug symptoms, but we have to check. A virus with Xander can turn into a serious bacterial infection easily. Fortunatly this one did not, and he is back to feeling a bit better, still sniffely, but not bad and no fever. His ANC count is going up with the virus, but that is normal, and acceptable. Our concer was if it were to go down. If that had been the case on Wed. Xander would have been admitted on the spot.

July 16th,
Xander's apt went well. We love the new Dr. I was
Worried at first because she is very quiet, but it wasn't long before she caught Xander's since of humor, and was  joking with him. He ANC was 5800
last weekend. That was artificially elevated due to infection. It was down to  2300 on Thursday. We
don't know if it is continuing to drop or not. This is
a high, but safe level right now. All other blood levels
and health issues appear to be fine. He does  have
yet another cold  going through so we will have to watch that close.

July 10th,
Xander is doing great!!! His cough is
nearly gone, and his energy is high.
Chemo is on Thursday this week, so
we will see how everything goes then.
Last friday professional photographers were on site at PIR getting pictures of the kids in the race cars. The are mailing pictures to us when they are developed, and I'll post them right away.

July 8th,
Yesterday started out great. The Portland International Raceway is having a fundraising vintage cars weekend. They invited my family and others to come enjoy the vintage race cars, and those who wanted to could have a lap around the race track in their choice of about 20 vintage race cars. Xander and the girls went to this event and had a blast. Unfortuantly Xander began to cough on the trip. By the time we arrived home he had a fever and the cough had become a bark. Of course it was a trip to ER. After 2 hours in the waiting room and 4 more in our room he left we a strong does of antibiotics in him, and a second dose secedualed for today. Today started at a Peace Health clinic and a move to ER. This time it was only a couple of hours in the ER and he is doing much better. The cough is almost gone. We are watching close because each of these antibiotic doses are only a 24 hour boost. After that time the "bug" might well come back we have been warned.

July 5th.
Xander has perked up out of whatever was wrong. He is back to being a busy 7 year old.

July 3rd
We already are having a rough start for July Xander was fine until last night. He went from high energy and spirits to extremely fatigued and weak. I've talked to Doernbecher, and we are watching for other symptoms. Other then keeping him well hydrated and rested thats all we can do for now.
