In Dec. we attended the local CandleLighter Christmas party. It was a huge success with children and adults alike. Xander and his siblings all had to sit on Santa's lap in order to recieve their gifts. Xander was one of two nearly bald kids. The other Candle Lighter children have finished treatment or are much farther along. He no longer minds his missing or very short hair.
 
Candle Lighters is a organization supporting families dealing with childhood cancer. We have monthly activities for the families to get together. This month we had a wonderful snowmobile trip on Jan. 15th. Xander must have gone on 6 or 7 snowmobile rides. He also was in several wild (for the under 8 set) snow ball fights, and acted as the brake ( the person ridding on back that steps on the brake to stop the sled ) on a one dog sled ride. A sled dog racing team brought 5 dogs up to do demonstrations. The also brought two working border collies. Hmm why do I always get the air head dogs. You should see the commands these dogs not only know, but clearly love doing. I'll post pictures from the snow day as soon as I get them developed.

The Christmas party took place at the Elks Lodge
on W11TH. They did a great job of getting everyone in the Christmas spirit.

This guy isn't mine, a fact my 14 year old is thankful for. All the kids littles and teanagers alike had to sit on Santa's lap. Most of them were good sports about it.

His brother Wayne is in the back right. Look for the tall boy with the glasses. His sister Nichole is in the back left. Look for the short blond hair and the face paint. Her sister Charissa is to her right. Nichole is the one hidding in this picture.

Xander and his dad spent time in the clown's line getting balloon shapes made.

The result of all this waiting was a balloon fishing pole complete with fish.
